Dakh is a youth center focused on dance and street culture, and is part of our Lawaaimakers program. Lawaaimakers is the collective name for young people who, within the Toestand spaces, make their voices heard in the social debate, make noise with tools while building, crank up the stereo to ten at their own dance events, install soundproofing in a studio so they can work through the night, and search for a place where we can make noise even at night. We breathe life into the city’s empty spaces and (re)define what it means to be young in Brussels. We offer young people from the neighborhood and throughout the Brussels Region the space to: just be themselves and hang out at our drop-in centers, and participate in activities. “Lawaaimakers (noise makers)” can take the initiative and launch their own projects, express themselves artistically, or build a network within the city as young citizens. This program is co-funded by the Flemish Community.
